How to use this tool
Pick your base aspect ratio
Select your current or reference display's aspect ratio from the available presets (16:9, 16:10, 21:9, 32:9, 3:2, 4:3, or 9:16). The visualizer locks the vertical height as the baseline for comparison.
Pick the aspect ratio to compare
Select the upgrade target (for example, 21:9 ultrawide against a 16:9 base). The tool overlays the two rectangles so you can see the extra horizontal 'wings' you'd gain, calculated precisely as the percentage difference in width.
Read the width difference
The visualization shows the percentage of extra horizontal width at the same height. It does not model camera field of view or total screen area. For supported games, extra rendered width can contribute to a wider field of view on the peripheral edges.
Try vertical ratios for mobile content
Switch the base and compare to 9:16 to visualize TikTok or Instagram Reels content layouts side-by-side with standard 16:9 video. Useful for creators planning cross-platform edits before shooting.
About this tool
The Aspect Ratio Visualizer helps you physically compare the differences in screen dimensions. When shopping for an ultrawide monitor, the numbers '21:9' or '3440x1440' can be hard to contextualize against your current standard monitor. This tool renders an interactive, overlapping CSS box so you can visually experience the difference in horizontal real estate.
Select a base monitor size and compare it against an upgrade. The visualizer locks both shapes to the same height so you can see the extra horizontal width. In supported games, that extra rendered width can contribute to a wider field of view, but the tool does not calculate a camera FOV.
How it works
Aspect ratios are the proportion of width to height. The 21:9 selector uses the common 3440×1440 resolution, which is 43:18 rather than an exact 21:9 ratio. By locking the vertical height, the visualizer overlays the two rectangles and reveals the extra width you gain when upgrading.
Common Aspect Ratios
Standard monitors are 16:9 (1.77:1). Ultrawides are typically 21:9 (2.33:1). Super ultrawides (like the Samsung Odyssey G9) are 32:9 (3.55:1). Meanwhile, mobile content like TikTok and Instagram Reels use an inverted 9:16 (0.56:1) vertical ratio, which you can also visualize here.
