About TechCompare

TechCompare is a collection of free, browser-based tools for working with displays, hardware, storage, color, code, and security. Most calculations run inside your browser. Live model pricing, the Ask assistant, ratings, and a few sync features make network requests. The site requires no accounts for the core tools and does not upload calculator inputs. Pick a tool from the grid above or search by name to find the right one for the question in front of you.

The site is organized into seven focused categories. Use Screens when shopping for a monitor or TV, Games for FPS and GPU questions, Data for transfer and storage tools, Hardware for power and memory timings, Security for generating passwords, Dev for everyday text and JSON utilities, and Design for color and accessibility work. Most tools take a single input and give you a clear, visual answer. This is the kind of small, practical question a search engine cannot answer directly.

TechCompare also includes an AI assistant called Ask TechCompare. Instead of browsing 28 tools manually, you can describe what you want to do in plain English (for example, "compare a 27 and 32 inch monitor" or "how much VRAM for llama 70b at q4") and the AI picks the right tool, asks follow-up questions if needed, and opens it with your values already filled in. Try it at techcompare.app/ask or click the Ask AI button on the homepage.

Frequently asked questions

Are all the tools on TechCompare free?
Yes. Every calculator, converter, and visualizer on TechCompare is free to use, with no accounts, no rate limits, and no paid tier. Tools work identically whether you visit once or a thousand times a month.
Do the tools work offline?
Most do. Once a tool's page has loaded, its core calculation runs in your browser and doesn't need the network to keep working. The LLM Pricing Calculator fetches live model data from OpenRouter with a 24-hour cache, and features such as the Ask assistant, page ratings, and color sync also use network requests.
Can I use these tools on my phone?
Yes. Every tool is responsive and works on modern mobile browsers, such as Safari on iOS, Chrome on Android, and any recent Chromium-based browser. A few visualizers render better on a larger screen, but nothing is desktop-only.
Who is TechCompare for?
Anyone who works with displays, hardware, storage, or color: developers, designers, PC builders, gamers, video editors, system administrators, and IT buyers. Each tool targets a small practical question rather than trying to be a general-purpose suite, so the answers are quick and specific.
How do I suggest a new tool?
Join the Discord linked in the site footer and drop the idea there. I read it and I build the ones that fit the site. If you can describe the question you're trying to answer, that's usually enough to start.
What is the Ask assistant and does it send my data?
The Ask anything bar sends your conversation and unit preference through a Supabase Edge Function to DeepInfra, our AI inference provider. TechCompare's server also receives a device fingerprint hash for rate limits and, when you're signed in, your Supabase access token. Those identifiers are used by our server and aren't forwarded to DeepInfra. Conversation state stays in your browser tab and isn't stored by the function after the request completes. See the AI tool assistant section of our Privacy Policy for details.
