Muse Wonder API pricing and cost calculator

A 25 step Muse Wonder agent task with a mostly cached 60,000 token prompt costs $3.44, or $8 with no cache hits. Run a few real tasks and use their usage, not the example.

Muse Wonder is billed at $4 per million input tokens, $20 per million output tokens and $0.20 per million cache read tokens, going by the OpenRouter listing this page's calculator reads. Meta built it as a reasoning model for complex agentic tasks. It accepts text, image, video, audio and PDF input and has a 1,048,576 token context window. It's API only. Meta hasn't published weights, so the API is the way in and there's no self hosting cost to compare. That makes the pricing question simple to state and harder to answer. The rates are one thing. How many calls a finished task needs, and how long the reasoning output runs, decide what you actually pay.

Cost Comparison

Based on 100,000 input tokens (50% cached), 5,000 output tokens, and 100 requests.Prices come live from OpenRouter at each maker's own price where it's listed. Temporary deals are left out.

How this is calculated

Take the calculator's default request first. With 100,000 input tokens and 5,000 output tokens, uncached input costs $0.40 and output costs $0.10, so one call is $0.50. Read half of the input from cache and it drops to $0.31. Over 100 calls a month the chart starts at $31. A complex agent task looks different. Suppose it takes 25 steps, each step sends a 60,000 token prompt and writes 4,000 tokens of reasoning and actions, and most of each prompt is read from cache. One task costs $3.44. Without cache hits the same task costs $8. At 400 tasks a month that's 10,000 calls, or $1,376 with the cache working. A cache read is 95% cheaper than uncached input, so the prefix you resend every step is the part to protect. Document work is the other common shape. A large PDF bundle of 300,000 input tokens with a 6,000 token summary costs $1.32 on the first pass. Each follow up question that reads the whole bundle from cache and writes 1,500 tokens costs $0.09. Cache writes, if your provider bills them on top, aren't in either figure. Image, video, audio and PDF input are all counted in tokens by the provider, and the count depends on the file. Send a sample, read the usage the API reports back, and scale from that rather than guessing from page counts or running time. The token counter on this site handles the text part of a prompt.

Verdict

Muse Wonder is a candidate when the work is a hard multi step task and your inputs aren't only text. Test it on tasks you already know the answer to and record accepted results, steps per task and output tokens per step. A cheap call that needs three retries isn't cheap. Its standard rates match Claude Opus 5.5 right now, so cache behavior, batch availability and the input types you need decide between the two. Budget from usage you've measured and recheck the rates before you scale up.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Muse Wonder cost per million tokens?
The listing this page reads shows $4 per million uncached input tokens, $0.20 per million cache read tokens and $20 per million output tokens. Apply each rate to its own usage. A request with 100,000 input tokens, half of them cached, and 5,000 output tokens comes to $0.31. A reasoning model can spend many tokens before it answers, so read the output count in the usage the API reports instead of judging by the length of the answer.
How does Muse Wonder's price compare with Claude Opus 5.5?
The standard input and output rates match right now, at $4 and $20 per million tokens. Cache reads tie at $0.20 per million. The 100,000 input, 5,000 output request with half the input cached costs $0.31 on Muse Wonder and $0.31 on Claude Opus 5.5. The side by side page covers cache, batch and input types in more detail.
How much does prompt caching save on Muse Wonder?
A cache read costs 95% less than uncached input, and only for tokens that really hit the cache. With 100,000 input tokens and 5,000 output tokens, the call falls from $0.50 with no hits to $0.31 with half the input cached and $0.12 with all of it cached. Output keeps its full rate throughout, so an answer heavy task saves less than a prompt heavy one.
Does Muse Wonder have batch pricing?
No batch price is listed right now, so an overnight job is billed at the normal rates. The same 100,000 input, 5,000 output call with half the input cached costs $0.31. Check the provider's page before you plan around a batch discount.
What kinds of input does Muse Wonder accept?
Text, image, video, audio and PDF. Every type is billed as input tokens, and the number of tokens a file produces depends on the file and the provider's counting. A short test call with a representative file shows the real usage in the API response. Use that figure with the cost examples on this page, such as $0.09 for a follow up question over a 300,000 token cached document.
Can I run Muse Wonder on my own hardware?
No. Muse Wonder is API only and Meta hasn't published weights for it, so there's nothing to download and no VRAM estimate to make. Your cost is the token bill, and the examples on this page are the way to plan it. Watch the output side in particular, since a reasoning model can spend many tokens before it answers.
What does a 25 step Muse Wonder agent task cost?
With a 60,000 token prompt at each step, 4,000 output tokens per step and most of the prompt read from cache, one task costs $3.44. With no cache hits it costs $8. Your own task will differ in step count and prompt growth, so log both from a few real runs and replace the example numbers.
